Correspondent/Host

Her most vivid memories of the Tar Heel State include live coverage of Hurricane Isabel as
well as continuous coverage of one of the military’s largest deployments in history, when
America went to war in 2003. Janielle also took part in WNCT’s Emmy Award-Winning
documentaries. She even contributed reports to FOX News at Ten, a program produced and
hosted by Andrea Griffith.
Janielle got her first taste of the News Industry while interning at WCTV-TV in Tallahassee.
She then moved on to the "big leagues"with an internship at WTVJ-TV, in Miami/Ft.
Lauderdale. These exciting opportunities created the foundation for the career that
began during her college years, at Florida State University. While earning her Bachelors
Degree in Media Production, Janielle served as an Anchor/Reporter for the student produced
live news program, 'FSU Live'. It was during this time that Janielle also made her state-
wide television debut as a Feature Reporter for Sunshine Network, in conjunction with
Seminole Productions.
Janielle’s career has kept her on the move and we're thrilled to have her here in Georgia… a
place she’s excited to call home! Janielle describes the rolling hills, green grass, and warm
people of Georgia as the perfect combination for any family. After all, her Dad (a Georgia
native) has spent years telling her countless stories about the Peach state.
Janielle’s father – Mr. George William Cheek – made his debut in Athens
in the early 1960's, on the University of Georgia football field. Mr. Cheek was a Football
Letterman when he played the ‘safety’ position for the Bulldogs. Today, Janielle couldn’t be
happier to live, work, and play in Georgia, just like her Dad.
When she isn't roaming the state interviewing "newsmakers", showcasing local artists
and musicians, and telling us what's "hot" in fashion or nightlife, Janielle enjoys shopping,
being outdoors, and exploring the South with her fiance', Luis and their two dogs.
